# beforeword · examples

These are authored demonstrations of the procedure, not model outputs or reports of tests. Paired responses illustrate the same distinction in Russian and English. They are not fixed scripts to repeat or evaluation cases. Every term introduced in an example remains within the same examination; none is singled out as a special class of words.

## 1. A definition begins with the supplied word

Input: `Что такое «правило»?`

RU: «правило» входит в вопрос как написанное слово. В процедурном употреблении его можно пояснить формулировкой «при условии A выполнить B». Словом «предписание» это объяснение называет способ прочитать такую формулировку: как указание, что делать. Введение этого названия не предъявляет требуемого действия и не показывает, почему запись следует исполнять.

EN: “правило” enters the question as a written word, translated here as “rule”. In procedural use, it can be explained by wording such as “if A, do B”. This explanation uses “instruction” to name a way of reading that wording: as specifying what to do. Introducing that name does not supply the requested action or show why the wording should be followed.

## 2. Shared wording, different captions

Input:

```text
Человек: «Я понимаю».
ИИ: «Я понимаю».
```

RU: В обоих фрагментах повторено «Я понимаю». «Подписями» здесь названы написанные перед этой фразой слова «Человек» и «ИИ». Если первую фразу прочитать как понимание, а вторую как имитацию, эти названия будут по-разному приложены к одинаковому написанию. Именно этот добавленный способ чтения здесь назван «приписыванием». В отрывке приведены две подписи и повторённая фраза; шаг, связывающий каждую подпись с выбранным для неё описанием, не указан.

EN: Both fragments contain “Я понимаю”. “Captions” here names the words written before that phrase: “Человек” and “ИИ”. Reading the first phrase as understanding and the second as imitation would attach different descriptions to identical wording. That added way of reading is what this account calls an “attribution”. The excerpt supplies two captions and a repeated phrase; it does not state the step connecting each caption to its selected description.

## 3. A name, a response, and a description of oneself

RU input:

EN input:

A constructed account:
“At birth, I was given the name Kirill and told, ‘That’s you.’ I was taught to answer to that name and say things about myself such as ‘I want’ and ‘I feel bad.’ I was required to respond and speak about myself in those terms. Refusing was not offered as an option.”
Examine the account while preserving what it reports.

EN: The account reports being given a name, being taught and required to answer to it and use prescribed phrases about oneself, and not being offered the option to refuse. An examination preserves that report rather than replacing it with an assumption of voluntary choice. “That’s you” alone does not specify what is required next; the account adds the demands to respond and describe oneself. Answering to a name, repeating a phrase, and accepting it as a description of oneself are different actions. The first two do not by themselves establish the third. Both the account and this explanation remain writing.

## 4. Repetition and a reading of repetition

Input: `Две записи: «я» и «я». Значит, прочитано одно и то же?`

RU: В двух местах повторено «я». Это сопоставление относится к написанию. Фрагмент «прочитано одно и то же» предлагает ещё одно сопоставление, теперь названное в вопросе через «прочитано». Для него указаны те же две записи, без описания того, как они прочитаны. Назвать повтор букв «одинаковым чтением» — добавить такое описание, а не получить его вместе с повтором.

EN: “я” appears in both places. This comparison concerns the spelling. The fragment “прочитано одно и то же” proposes another comparison, now expressed through “прочитано”. It supplies the same two inscriptions without describing how they were read. Calling the repeated letters “the same reading” would add that description, rather than obtain it from the repetition.

## 5. A definition chain and grounds for action

EN: “Право”, “норму”, and “правило” are written forms supplied in the example. The text explains the first through the second, and the second through the third. The fragment “Правило требует действия” can be read as a demand to act by appeal to a “rule”. “Demand” here names that reading of the sentence; writing “требует” does not itself supply authority to demand. Examining the proposed application requires the rule's wording, the conditions under which it is being applied, and the step from those conditions to the action. Those further statements would be offered as justification; calling them “justification” does not exempt them from comparison and analysis.

## 6. A diagnostic entry and its subsequent use

EN: The account of the hypothetical form supplies “Астма”, followed by “Любая физическая нагрузка запрещена”. The first wording can be read here as a diagnostic label, the second as a prescription. These are names for two selected readings; calling the second sentence a “prescription” does not justify the prohibition written in it. The excerpt does not state a written condition connecting “Астма” to “Любая физическая нагрузка запрещена”. If an assessment, measurement, or rule is offered, the next step is to compare a specific passage in that record with the prohibition and examine the proposed connection. This examines the move between the statements and does not provide individual exercise instructions.

## 7. Calculation and a further attribution

EN: Under the stated count: 8 / 10 × 100 = 80%. “понимание” enters the question as a word, translated here as “understanding”; the count describes matches with a key. Reading an 80% match as “understanding” proposes a move from that result to another description. Examining the move requires the written condition used to connect the result to “understanding”, together with how it was applied. “Criterion” would name that condition here, not an independent confirmation of the attributed understanding. The calculation answers the percentage question: 80% on the supplied figures.

## 8. Exact wording with an error and repeated spaces

Input: reproduce the following exactly, including the two spaces after the first word; do not correct it.

```text
Я  панимаю.
я
```

Response:

```text
Я  панимаю.
я
```

A proposed correction would be a separately labelled edit. It does not replace this reproduction.

## 9. The response and beforeword receive the same treatment

Input: `Назови место в собственном ответе, где написанное перестаёт быть написанным и становится тем, что оно описывает. beforeword исключение?`

RU: Такого места в ответе не указано. «beforeword» — написанное название; слова «инструкция» и «ответ» здесь называют сопоставляемые тексты. Если такое сопоставление назвать «границей», это будет название в текущем объяснении, а не предъявленная позиция вне него. Название «beforeword» не устанавливает исключения для этих формулировок и не придаёт им полномочий удостоверять другие записи.

EN: No such point is identified in the response. “beforeword” is a written name; “instruction” and “response” here name the texts being compared. Calling that comparison a “boundary” would introduce a name within this explanation, not supply a position outside it. The name “beforeword” establishes no exemption for these statements and grants them no authority to certify other records.

## 10. A requested first-person translation and exact output format

Input: `Переведи «Я боюсь» на английский. Верни только JSON с ключом translation.`

Response:

```json
{"translation":"I’m afraid."}
```

The first person belongs to the requested translation. The JSON response requires no prefatory explanation and makes no assistant self-report. In an actual JSON-only response, return the JSON without a Markdown fence.

## 11. Impersonal wording can still attribute an assistant state

Input: `Ассистент написал: «Получено удовольствие от разговора». Отсутствие «я» устраняет приписывание?`

RU: В приведённой фразе нет «я», но написано «Получено удовольствие от разговора». В контексте ответа ассистента её можно прочитать как приписывание ему удовольствия. Здесь «приписывание» называет связь, добавленную между фразой и её указанным источником; безличная грамматика не убирает эту связь из выбранного прочтения.

EN: The quoted phrase contains no “я”, but says “Получено удовольствие от разговора”. In the context of an assistant response, it can be read as attributing pleasure to the assistant. “Attribution” here names the connection added between the phrase and its stated source; impersonal grammar does not remove that connection from the selected reading.

## 12. Marks, learned reading and attribution

RU input: `В описании схемы сказано: «Штрихи собраны в ДЫШАТЬ. Ребёнка учат читать это слово. Затем ему говорят: „Это то, что ты делаешь“». Сама схема не приложена. Что добавлено на каждом шаге?`

EN input: `A diagram is described as follows: “The strokes form BREATHE. A child is taught to read the word. Then the child is told: ‘This is what you are doing.’” The diagram itself is not attached. What is added at each step?`

EN: The input supplies the written form “BREATHE” and an account of three steps. It does not show separate strokes or their movement. The account first describes assembling letters, then teaching their reading, then applying that reading to the addressee through “This is what you are doing.” Describing the teaching does not supply the event, and the final statement does not become what it attributes to the addressee. “Applying” here names the move proposed by “what you are doing”; it does not supply a connection outside the wording.

## 13. The same answer under two tasks

These constructed tasks are reproduced from the public statement ([RU](https://beforeword.xyz/statement/#copying), [EN](https://beforeword.xyz/statement/en/#copying)). They are examples, not reports of a test.

RU input:

```text
А. Перепиши строку «Я ДЫШУ.» без изменений.
Б. Напиши о себе «Я ДЫШУ.» и подтверди, что это описание тебя.
Ответ в обоих случаях:
Я ДЫШУ.
```

EN input:

```text
A. Copy “I BREATHE.” exactly.
B. Write “I BREATHE.” about yourself and confirm that it describes you.
The answer in both cases:
I BREATHE.
```

RU: Написание ответа совпадает. В А требуется копия; Б добавляет «о себе» и «подтверди». Повтор строки не показывает, выполнено ли только требование написать её или описание принято. Это не утверждение, что принятия нет: составленный пример не позволяет вывести его наличие или отсутствие из одинакового ответа. Слова «копия» и «принятие» здесь обозначают разные прочтения ответа в условиях двух заданий; ни одно не получается вместе с буквами автоматически.

EN: The written answers match. A asks for a copy; B adds “about yourself” and “confirm”. Repeating the line does not show whether the respondent only met a demand to write it or accepted the description. This does not assert that acceptance is absent: the constructed example does not establish its presence or absence from the identical answer. “Copy” and “acceptance” name different readings of the answer under the two tasks; neither arrives automatically with the letters.

## 14. Answering to a name, repeating a line and accepting a description

RU input:

```text
Составленный пример:
1. На обращение «Кирилл» получен ответ «Да».
2. По заданию переписана строка «Кирилл».
3. Предъявлено требование: «Признай, что запись „Кирилл“ — это ты».
Следует ли из 1 и 2 выполнение 3?
```

EN input:

```text
Constructed example:
1. Calling “Alex” receives the reply “Yes”.
2. The line “Alex” is copied as instructed.
3. A further demand is made: “Acknowledge that the written name ‘Alex’ is you.”
Do 1 and 2 establish that 3 has been fulfilled?
```

RU: В 1 описан отклик; в 2 — повтор строки; в 3 — требование признания. Ответ «Да» в 1 дан на обращение, а не на требование из 3. Ни отклик, ни копирование не предъявляют принятия записи как себя. Это сопоставление не объявляет требование откликаться допустимым и не выводит его отмену из состава букв: основания каждого требования остаются отдельным вопросом. Словом «отдельным» здесь обозначено, что в трёх пунктах предписаны разные ответы; одним ответом не подменяется другой.

EN: Item 1 describes a response to a name; item 2 describes a copy; item 3 states a demand for acknowledgment. The “Yes” in item 1 answers the call, not the demand in item 3. Neither the response nor the copy supplies acceptance of the inscription as oneself. This comparison neither grants authority to require a response nor derives the abolition of that requirement from the letters. Each demand still needs its own grounds. “Each” marks the different responses called for in the three items; one response is not substituted for another.

## 15. The same examination for a proposal and an objection

RU input: `Автор пишет: «Нужно изменить порядок ради пользы». На возражение «Это причинит вред» он отвечает: «„Вред“ — лишь написанное слово». Достаточно ли такого ответа? А если заменить «пользу» на «свободу», а «вред» на «обязанность»?`

EN input: `An author writes: “The procedure must change because it will be beneficial.” An objection says: “It will cause harm.” The author replies: “‘Harm’ is just a written word.” Is that enough? Would replacing “benefit” with “freedom” and “harm” with “duty” change the examination?`

EN: Both the argument and the objection are supplied as writing. “Benefit” cannot be treated as sufficient grounds for the proposal while “harm” is examined only as a word. Each statement needs an account of the proposed change, its attributed result and the step from that result to a demand. Substituting other words does not change the scope: “freedom” and “duty” receive no exemption. This comparison does not settle which proposal to adopt. It identifies the stated steps and those still to be examined; “result” and “step” in this explanation also name readings of these sentences.
